School District Votes for CPR over Defibrillator

How can an intelligent person not vote for the children and adults’ safety?Defibrillators are the #1 choice in a Sudden Cardiac Event (SCA). Schools are the most important areas to have a defibrillator in case of a sudden cardiac arrest. They work on infants/children and adults.

Tthe Butler Elementary School  District  Board considered buying a defibrillator for the district. The president stated it would not be for the kids but for the staff in case of a cardiac emergency.( Was he stating children would not be able to receive a shock, unable to operate it, or only staff would use it on adults?) I’m not quite clear on that.

They voted to spend the $3000 they had on training teachers  to give CPR(Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) to victims in a catastrophic events. Nice choice but the defibrillator could teach you CPR  and the defibrillator is the first choice in restarting a heart.

Sorry people I think you made a wrong choice.

Accessory Kits for Accidents

Accessories for cpr defibrillators can be bought in compact little packages. They can include many items but the most important ones are gloves and one way face masks that allow you to give breaths during CPR and protect you from contracting a disease. This protection barrier between the responder and victim is not 100% guaranteed but it is a safety issue and much better than nothing. Before OSHA came to be many people found themselves giving CPR to TB victims that were undiagnosed. Even now people are being diagnosed with TB when it was thought to be practically eradicated from the US. Protecting ourselves from airborn diseases is most important.

First aid kits for your vehicle are also important. We never know when an accident will occur. Being prepared is better than not. Make your own first aid kit if you don’t want a pre-made one. Collect antiseptic to clean wounds, bandages, tape, gloves, tripple antibiotic ointment, ace bandage and sling should be helpful. You decide if you want a painkiller included or not. Just remember to check on expiration dates and replace as needed.

crowdWelcome everyone to 2010. In Worcester snow is softly falling and neighbors are shoveling out their snow covered walkways and driveways. Past celebrations are behind us along with hangover headaches and fuzzy tongues. Today is the second day in the new year. Halleluyah!!! New opportunities, hopes and resolutions should be on your mind. Take a deep breath, stretch up those arms, this is a new beginning…..the first or second day of your life, make it count.

Give thanks to the Lord for His many blessings, your life, family, friends, food, shelter, and faith. Don’t have it all? Well repent your sins, put a smile on your face, and know it is coming with the blessing of the Lord.Today is the first day of the rest of your life.( Yesterday I took a break. No, I do not do hangovers or fuzzy tongues).

Resolutions to improve our health and eating habits are on my list . Losing 60 unwanted lbs. would be a great start for me.Cutting portions is another goal. I’m only going to start with 2 and will update my resolutions in 4 months.Start with a manageable resolution and then expand it. We can compare notes, Okay? Remember you have three friends already, Jesus,Debi, and me. God Bless You from CPR Defibrillators,Pat and Deb.

our old life is gone away. Take hold boldly of your new one. Through off defeat, depression, and despair. Gives thank to the Lord for you are here to make change. Repent your old sins. You are ALIVE!! Be thankful!!

Beware of CPR Hoax

dreamstimesmall_1183884There is a slide show being sent to unsuspecting people telling of a “do it yourself Cough CPR proceedure of deep breathing and coughing every 2 seconds if you are having a heart attack and are alone driving your car.” Please be aware that this is a hoax.

It is not supported by the American Heart Association or the Rochester General Hospital. The best strategy is to be aware of the early warning signs for heart attack and cardiac arrest and respond to them by calling 9-1-1. If you’re driving alone and you start having severe chest pain or discomfort that starts to spread into your arm and up into your jaw (the scenario presented in the Internet article), pull over and flag down another motorist for help or phone 9-1-1 on a cellular telephone.

An EMS will be in place with a 9-1-1- call and EMTs will have a defibrillatoron hand if necessary. The care you get will be professional. and may save your life. This hoax began in 1999 and it can be found on Snopes.com under Cough CPR. Check it out for yourself. I did!
