The EMS in a town or city like to have the townspeople use the same defibrillators. Why? Because they can connect your defibrillator leads to theirs without replacing the pads on the victim. This saves them time and money. Some rescuers will replace pads anyway. Its as if they don’t think we are capable of making a correct placement with the pads. If I have offended any professional rescuers I apologize, however, I had a rescuer laugh in my prescence to a colleague about the fact that pads are frequently replaced by them. You should know that many companies have connectors to adapt different defibrillators’ accessories to another. Therefore it is not necessary to buy a specific brand simply because your town has that kind.
Buy the best one for you! Check to see if your favorite has a connector for the town’s choice of defibrillator. Don’t be misled into getting a particular brand “because the fire department uses that one”. It might not have been chosen for quality but for a cheaper price or “perks.”
We sell Zoll, Philips, and Defibtech which we consider high quality and reliable for any occasion.I have a hard time choosing between them for my preference because they offer such unique differences. Zoll has pictures and oral instructions. Philips can convert the FRx from adult to pediatric use by the infant/child key. This allows you to use the adult pads as a child pad. Defibtech offers simplicity, ruggedness, and reliability. All defibrillators offer audio instruction.
Don’t forget to do your homework. Check all the brands to see your options and work the best deal. Remember the most expensive is not always the best and neither is the cheapest. I know we all want a bargain but if you need to replace batteries, pads and other accessories then it is a bad bargain. Be smart. Go with a reputable company and check your products track record.
Defibtech Lifeline View automated external defibrillator was recognized as one of 40 transformative design projectsof the year 2010 by I.D. Magazine (International Design Magazine). The editor in chief stated that this year’s list of transformative projects represent large or small projects striving for social change.
Defibtech CEO, Dr. Glenn Laub,M.D. stated that Defibtech was founded on the premise of low cost, high qualityand easy to use defibrillators for the general public. The Lifeline View was designed to make AEDs fool proof to use.
Defibtech Lifeline View is the only defibrillator with a full color, full motion interactive display that shows step by step videos for preparing the victim, performing CPR, rescue breathing and performing external defibrillation. Video and text prompts reinforce voice prompts giving 3 modes of instruction.
Defibtech was founded by Dr. Laub and a fellow Yale graduate, President Gintaras Vaisnys in 2002 with seed money from private investors. Their corporate structure merges innovation with efficiency.
When Defibtech was introduced it revolutionized the AED marketplace. The device had many features better than other AEDs and sold for half the cost. At that time AEDs were selling for $3,000-$4,000 and Defibtech was selling for $1,500.

Referee Harry Voigt said he didn’t feel well after a game of baseball in Maple Grove, Minnesota. He drove off. Parents Tim Kuebelbeck and Brad Frane saw Voigt’s car crash into a median. On reaching the vehicle they found Voigt unresponsive and not breathing. Mr. Kuebelbeck started mouth to mouth. He later said he didn’t know what he was doing, he just did it.
Frane thought the school might have a defibrillator..it did a Defibtech AED, but they didn’t know how to use it. They agreed shocking seemed the thing to try. They laid him on the street and put on the pads. Then they turned on the device and found the device talking them through the proceedure before giving a life-saving shock. It started Voigt’s heart. He survived his ordeal and it is possible that these 2 heroes and the Defibteh Lifeline AED they used gave Mr. Voigt a second chance. The men say it was blind luck but do we really believe that?
Defibtech Auto , the latest design from Defibtech defibrillators, takes the stress away from responders reluctant to puch the shock button.
The defibrillator does it for you…if you need it. They have just sent their first shipment to Europe. DefibFrance is the first distributor to add the Defibtech Auto to their product line. Other European distributors will soon be getting this defibrillator themselves.
Imagine, a self analyzing defibrillator that automaticall sends a shock to the victim. All we have to do is place the device on the victim.
Twenty-five AEDs (automated external defibrillators) were donated by Defibtech to Maine schools. Cardiac arrest occurs in more than 250,000 people, young and old causing sudden death. Those lucky enough to have rescuers on hand or the use of a cardiac defibrillator increase their chances of survival greatly. 70% of victims defibrillated within 1-2 minutes of an arrest survive.
The Rural Access to Emergency Devices (Rural AED) Act was co-sponsored by Senator Russell Feingold(D-Wi) and Senator Susan Collins(R-Me )to allow responders access to AEDs in rural communities. Over 600 AEDs have been distributed throughout Maine. They have been given to police, fire, EMS departments; to dental and medical clinics, schools, parks ,colleges, libraries and museums. This stems from a 17 year old, Adam Lemel, who died of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA)while playing basketball at school. The senators also passed a resolution that the first week in June be designated as “National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED Awareness Week.”
The amount of people attending religious services deserve a safe environment and a safe device to protect them from the unexpected. A Mr Keith White attended a celebratory 60th anniversary dinner for his parrish. He was suddenly struct down by a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Fellow guests responded with a Defibtech AED, given to the church by an annonymous donor ten days before. The reversal of the event was indeed a miracle. A blessed donor and a blessed outcome.
Affordability of these expensive devices is closer to the layman’s pocketbook than ever before. Every event with large groups attending should have a defibrillator nearby.
70% of SCA victims defibrillated within a minute or two after an arrest survive. If defibrillated after 10 minutes only 5% survive. Defibrillators give you a second Chance.
